A sailor and the hand of The Creator

Director Statement
Help! was a life-changing turn in my career in 2004. This stop-motion short film was created while studying animation at Hellomotion with Anggun Priambodo as my stop-motion mentor. I was still working as an Analyst for a private bank in Jakarta, and at the same time still contributing as a freelance illustrator for MTV Trax magazine. It was a stop-motion session assignment with a very short deadline. So I borrowed a digital camera (a compact Nikon digital camera) from a friend, a blackboard from my aunt's workplace, bought a box full of white chalk, and with no idea for a story, the process of drawing on the board began spontaneously. My sister also contributed by lending her hands to some of the hand-scenes in the film. But the animation process was so much fun that I even took the sound of the water from the bathroom for the film audio (foley).
